Welcome to To BEE or Not To BEE, my name is Bianca and this is my world through words.
I was sitting on my bedroom floor writing this afternoon when I realized I wanted to share a piece of writing I just created. Though I felt like the horrid instagram algorithm wouldn’t give my words the justice they deserved, two hours later I launched my blog to give myself a space to be as creative, as quirky, and as whimsical as I wanted. I created this platform for anyone who relates to my ideas and words and needs extra affirmations that in fact the world is not ending but your emotions are boiling over, you're not alone.
First things first, I thought I’d give you a little background on the name “To BEE or Not To BEE” for the site. It all started when I asked my mom what my name meant and where it came from, why Bianca? I always hated my name… She told me it was an Italian name meaning white and pure… okay? That’s it? Then she added, it was from a Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew. It wasn’t until my second year University that I finally read the play, and I fell in love. I’m not sure if I fell in love with Shakespeare because it became the narrative of my name or that his word play was so intriguing. Either way I’m a Shakespeare fanatic now, I know, call me crazy. Grade 10 Bianca would be fainting at those words coming out of my mouth.
For those unaware, The Taming of the Shrew is about two sisters, Bianca and Katherine. It is your common day boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, dad inhibits love between the two, blah blah blah. BUT the bigger picture of the play is that Bianca is unable to marry until her older sister Katherine is courted. The catch is that Katherine is a shrewish woman and her husband attempts to “tame” her to be like Bianca. In the end I’m thankful my mother named me Bianca and not Katherine, even if I may be a shrew on a bad day.
Welcome to the Bee Hive and enjoy my writing xo
